The Root Chakra

This chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is the first chakra to fully develop after we are born. It is responsible for the coordination and strength of our lower part of our body. Mentally and emotionally, it stores our belief systems about being safe and powerful. If during our early life, from ages of birth to six years old, we are raised in a loving household and feel unconditional love from our primary caregivers most of the time, we will have a deep and unwavering sense of self and belief that we are safe. However, most of us have experienced certain levels of trauma in our early lives. If we were raised in a household where there was marital strife between our parents, mental illness, addictions, sexual or physical abuse we will feel a deep sense of uneasiness and doubt. The root chakra is the databank for all information having to do with safety. I have heard many say that all fear results from an inefficient energy flow through the root chakra. I'm not sure I agree with that completely but I do know that those who experience high levels of anxiety, fear depression and anger most likely will display low-energy coefficients in the root chakra. Simply by clearing the chakra, many of the feelings of uneasiness, anxiety, self-doubt and depression are often eliminated or deeply diminished.

The Sacral Chakra

The second chakra is located in the lower abdomen about 2 inches below the navel. This chakra is the base and foundation of our emotional body. It is responsible for our abilities to relate to others and and governs our creative ability. It is also responsible for the energy within our spleen, liver, bladder and sexual organs. This chakra is the second to mature and events in a person's life between the ages of 6 and 12 years old have a tremendous impact upon its formation. Any trauma during this time will have an adverse effect on the creativity potential and socialization abilities. The health of the chakra has enormous impact on our sense of well-being in Relationships with others and our ability to channel our creative and ambitious ideas and bring them into reality. Any imbalance will dramatically affect our ability to coexist with others and to be happy and satisfied with ourselves.
