About Papa's Hearth and Home:
Randal Papa Began His Remodeling Experience At the Age of 15, Working With His Father, Who Did Remodeling in the Milford, CT Area. After College, he Started Papa's Painting Plus, Doing Interior and Exterior Painting, Wallpaper, and Some Carpentry. When His Brother, Stephen, Joined Him in 1985, They Formed Two Companies: Papa Brothers Contracting Services for Their Residential and Commercial Remodeling Division, and Classic Finishes (With the Painting Crew From Papa's Painting Plus). During That Period, Papa Brothers Did A Multitude of Remodeling Projects Including Additions, Roofing, Siding, Windows, Kitchens & Baths, As Well As Several Whole House Remodeling Projects. in 1987, Randal Bought A Small Home in Hamden, CT That Did Not Have A Fireplace. After Getting Estimates From Masonry Contractor Friends for More Than he Wanted To Spend On the Project, he Saw an Article in A Home Improvement Magazine About Wood Burning Manufactured Fireplaces. he Purchased One and Installed It in His Living Room. His Brother Stephen Helped Him and Then They Bought and Installed One in Stephen's Home in Guilford. They Began Advertising for Installations of Fireplaces in Existing Homes and the Response Was Fantastic. (Back Then, They Were Installing the Fireplace, Chimney Pipe, Framing, Drywall, Taping and Painting the Interior Enclosure, and Installing A Marble Facing/Hearth Extension and Wood Mantel for Around $3500! This Was Less Than Half of What A Masonry Fireplace Cost At That Time.) in 1992, They Made the Decision To Discontinue the Classic Finishes Painting Division in Favor of Adding the Fireplace Division: Papa Brothers Fireplaces. They Opened A Small Showroom On Sackett Point Rd., in North Haven, With Four Fireplaces On Display - Two Wood Burning and Two Gas Models. in 1997, Stephen Made the Decision To Leave the Business for Personal Reasons. Randal Papa Opened Papa's Hearth & Home That Year in the Lakeview Plaza in Branford, CT. the New Showroom Featured Over A Dozen Burning Fireplaces, Stoves and Inserts, As Well As Accessories Like Glass Doors, Tools, Screens and More. in 2008, he Opened A New Store On Jefferson Rd. in Branford, CT. Randal Made the Decision To Close the Store At the End of 2011 and Continue the Business Out of His Home As Papa's Contracting Services With Divisions for Papa's Fireplace (Offering the Same Products and Services he Had At the Store and At More Competitive Prices), To Date, Randal Papa Has Done More Than 2600 Custom Fireplaces Installations, As Well As Hundreds and Hundreds of Remodeling Projects.
