Food Photography is an art if done properly. There are many factors that go into food photography other then the normal things like capture, lighting, image quality, backgrounds, etc. The best way to accomplish good photography is to hire a good food stylist that knows how to prepare food for the camera. When they say they use glue as milk, it's true. The lines on a steak, the sesame seeds on a hamburger bun, the smooth surface in a pot of gumbo, the scoops of ice cream that don't melt, the egg yolks that are a beautiful golden yellow, a beverage the right color, the right ice cube, the right condensation around the glass, beer - the right amount of foam in a frosty mug. All this created just for the camera and it takes time and preparation. Looking at food with the eye and looking at food through a camera lens are two different things. Preparing food for the lens is an absolute art in itself and can make all the difference to a professional commercial photography food shoot. Food needs to look it's best for advertising and we accomplish that by having all the elements in place before photography begins. Refrigeration and a good food prep kitchen are a must for a specialized shoot like food. We provide refrigeration and a full kitchen to prepare your dishes. Mardi Gras Workshops

Mardi Gras Season is upon us... What a glorious time for New Orleans...New Orleans Photo of Louisiana, Stanwycks Studios offers Mardi Gras workshops. The Workshops start at the Tchoupitoulas Street Studio in the Uptown area of New Orleans. Many Parades are scheduled on the various Weekends of Mardi Gras... There are two weekends of Mardi Gras and Mardi Gras day... Vicki Stanwycks the owner of New Orleans Photo of Louisiana - Stanwycks Photography, has been shooting Mardi Gras parades for years with her team of photographers and assistants, shooting the Uptown New Orleans Parades that end roll on St. Charles Ave and all through Canal Street. Our Mardi Gras workshops give attendees a front row seat so to speak, at the parades. Depending on the weekend you choose the parades roll right in front of the studio and not far away as to where they are. Much walking and running is involved in our Mardi Gras Workshops... You bring your own gear, we supply food for the weekend workshops. Mardi Gras day we have food and drinks at the Workshop Van. We give you a schedule and work with in the time limits the city has set forth, knowing when the roads and streets are opened and closed. Logistics when it comes to Mardi Gras are crucial and we know the whens and where's because we have been shooting Mardi Gras for more than 23 years. Beginners Mardi Gras for some are a holiday onto itself like Christmas. Mardi Gras workshops are geared towards travel photography for all shooting levels including the shooter who wants more knowledge to create images on the fly. Client must supply their own Cameras, Gear, Tripods, flashes, etc. We are with you every step of the way helping you create images that represent Mardi Gras. This is truly a unique way to see Mardi Gras and enjoy the experience of the sights, the people and the Music.
