Joanne Lovejoy, Director / Teacher / Choreographer

Joanne, is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer. As a teen Joanne performed along side the "Bright Side Singers" in Bob Hope's USO shows in California. She was a singer and dancer for "Cabaret Review, " produced by On The Town Productions, as well as for numerous productions with the "Rhythm-Aire Players, " including "Rhythm is our Business" and "Final Encore." She choreographed "Annie" and "Little Shop of Horrors" for Children's Creative and Performing Arts School in S.D., and her choreography was recently showcased at the Lycum Theater in the California Youth Conservatory Theater's production of "Little Shop Of Horrors, " directed by Shaun Evans. In addition Joanne has been involved with Mothers and Daughters Club Assisting Philanthropies (MADCAPS), a philanthropic organization, as a choreographer for the past 25 years. Her studio, Joanne's Dance Place, was the training ground for many dancers who have performed on cruise ships, in Vegas shows, and on Broadway. For the past twelve years she has been on the teaching staff at several local dance studios including S.D. Danceworks and Culture Shock Dance Center providing classes for children through adults offering various dance disciplines from beginning through advanced levels.

Amanda Zimmerman, Teacher / Choreographer

Amanda has been dancing for over thirteen years. She is trained in many styles, such as jazz, lyrical, tap, hula, Tahitian, clogging, children's work, modern, and breakdancing. Her specialty and true love, however, is hip hop. She loves working with the kids; they bring a smile to her face every time. Over the years, she has achieved many awards. She has been named top dancer, best b-girl, most hardworking, and has placed 1st in many overalls. From 2010-2013, she was on the "Future Shock" dance team, a youth troupe ran through Culture Shock Dance Troupe. This is when she started developing a true love for hip hop, and was named captain on "Future Shock" in 2012. She was just cast in the first ever Hip Hop Nutcracker, called "A Culture Shock Nutcracker, " also ran through Culture Shock and directed by Angie Bunch. She really enjoyed being in the show, and will definitely do it again next year! Amanda just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Tyler in June of 2013, and he is the love of her life. Amanda's goal is to pass on her passion and love for dance to her students, and is really looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for her and her students at Metro Dance!.
