About Aloha Crepes Kaimuki:
“aloha Crepes” Was Founded by Ron Kayano and Richard Monroe, Two Childhood Friends Who Met Back in Boy Scouts Troop #1 and Graduated Together From Academy of the Pacific in 1994. After High School, They Originally Went Their Separate Ways. Ron Went On To Run A Myriad of Family Businesses Including Star Markets, Kenny’s Restaurant, Kenny’s Burgerhouse, and Kenny’s Hawaiian Bbq, Acquiring A Wealth of Knowledge in the Food Industry Along the Way. At the Same Time, Ron Loved To Travel the World and Soon Discovered That No Matter Where he Went, Every Culture Seemed To Have Its Own Version of the “crepe.” of Course There Was the Familiar Crepe Often Associated With France, But he Recognized That It Also Showed Up in India As the Dossa, and in Mexico As the Tortilla, Among Others. the Ingredients May Have Been Different, But the Underlying Design Consisted of A “thin Pancake” That Could Be Filled, Wrapped, Rolled, or Layered in an Unending Array of Designs and Combinations. the Possibilities Were Endless, and Ron’s Keen Sense of Creativity, Honed At Parsons School of Design, Reveled in the Opportunity. Richard Also Started Out in His Family Business, in His Case Rattan Creations. he Ended Up Leaving To Join the U.s. Navy, Serving On the Nuclear Submarine Uss Helena. Like Ron, His Travels Took Him Overseas To Far Off Places Like Australia, Singapore, Guam, and Japan. Curiously, Richard Also Found Himself Enjoying Different Forms of Crepes Wherever he Went. Richard and Ron Eventually Returned To Hawaii and After Reconnecting, Decided To Put Their Own Unique Local Spin On This Popular Treat. in Hawaii, Mochiko Is the Well-Known Sweet Rice Flour Used in A Variety of Familiar Local Dishes, So It Was A Natural Fit for the Pancake Wrap To Be Used in Their Crepes. Mochiko Is Gluten Free, So It Can Be Used As A Healthy Alternative To Wheat Flour. in Addition To Its Namesake, Aloha Crepes Also Features A One-Of-A-Kind Twist On the Popular Shave Ice (Snow Cone). It Is Shaved From Different Flavors of Original Recipe Ice, Creating A Soft, Flavored, Powder Dessert That’s So Indescribable You Have To Taste It To Believe It. As We Love To Say Here in Hawaii, “so Ono!!!” (Delicious!) Finally, No Island Treats Shop Would Be Complete Without an Acai Bowl, and Aloha Crepes Has Set Out To Create the Best On the Island. Come Try for Yourself. Your Taste Buds Will Forever Thank You and Will Beg You To Return Again and Again! “aloha Crepes” Was Founded by Ron Kayano and Richard Monroe, Two Childhood Friends Who Met Back in Boy Scouts Troop #1 and Graduated Together From Academy of the Pacific in 1994.
