  Eyebrow Microblading, sometimes known as Microstroking or 3D Brows, is a semi-permanent eyebrow fill in technique that allows you to enhance or change the shape of your existing brows with individual hairline strokes added by your expert brow artist, which will last up to 12 months. Making the choice to get microblading can be stressful enough! Then comes the questions - how thick do I want them, will I still have to fill them in, and what do I want my dream brows to look like? Eyebrows, being as important as they are and with so many styles to choose from, may make it confusing and stressful to answer these questions! And keep in mind that the Zandi K Brow Experts are going to create a customized brow for you regardless of the label. Often we blend multiple techniques create the best outcome to help achieve our guests hopes and dreams for their custom brow! Just like any procedure in beauty, you really need to trust and communicate with your artist! Here are the basics to help you choose between traditional microblading, powder brows or a combo technique! And don't worry!   • What is microblading?

    Microblading is the artistic technique using a manual method of tattooing that creates beautiful, individual hair strokes. The results? Gorgeous, natural looking eyebrows regardless of the amount of hair present.

  • How long does it last?

    Microbladed eyebrows last 1 year on average for most people. Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 6 months to 15 months depending age, skin type and proper care.

  • Do i still need to get waxed and tinted?

    Yes! Hair will still grow outside of your microbladed brow line and needs to be cleaned up. If you prefer a darker brow and have lighter hair, your brows must continue to be tinted so that your hair matches your microblading color, however I recommend tinting to all my clients regardless of the darkness. Your brow hairs naturally get bleached out, especially in the arch of the brow. These keeps up the appearance of a nice, full brow.

  • Will I still need to fill in my brows?

    Microblading is meant to look like hair, so if you want a filled in looked you would have to add microshading to your brow, otherwise you will still need to fill in for a more dramatic look.

  • What is microshading?

    Microshading employs a stippling method which uses repetitive dots of pigment which creates a soft, powdered effect that resembles eyebrow powder. The overall effect more closely resembles the sort of brow you'd find on any given Instagram influencer. Microshading is also a better option for someone who has an oilier skin type.

  • Can you have both microshading and microblading done to your brows?

    Yes, combining both techniques will give the best of both worlds. The blading will give you the realistic hairlike strokes and shading will give a powdery makeup effect. In short – you will wake up flawless.

  • Why get microbladed/shaded if you still have to be waxed and sometimes tinted?

    For people who have little to no hair, gaps in the brow, tails that are too short, brows too far apart, and/or certain medical conditions such as alopecia or cancer, microblading is life changing. No amount of waxing or tinting will last the way a microbladed brow will for clients with these issues. You can also enhance the shape of a brow that is missing extra hairs that will completely change the arch and add fullness or cemetery to the brows. Long story short – yes, you still have to maintain your brows but between appointments, you'll still wake up pretty flawless.

  • Does it hurt?

    We use two different types of numbing gel and cream to help alleviate any discomfort. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

  • How long does it take to heal?

    Your brows will take 10 days to heal. During that week, it is encouraged for you to let them naturally exfoliate. This means keeping them out of water, minimal sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, the brows will appear lighter, and their true color should come out after 4 weeks. As long as you're good at following our aftercare instructions, there shouldn't be a problem going to work or being out in public!

  • How long is the appointment?

    The appointment takes an hour and a half. Most of that time is spent drawing and measuring the shape of your desired brow and picking the right color to ensure that your healed brow is perfect for you.

  • Can i wear makeup after?

    You can wear your regular face and eye makeup, but we suggest not putting any makeup on the brows for at least two weeks!

  • Is the second appointment necessary?

    For microblading, at least two appointments 4-6 weeks apart are needed. Touch ups are done no earlier than 4 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 8. If you do not schedule your touchup within 8 weeks, you will be required to pay a touch up fee outlined in the touch up schedule. It is absolutely imperative to complete the touch up treatment! Without it, the results will not be optimal. At the touch up, we assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder, add more density, and correct any irregularities in the microbladed hair strokes during the touch up.

  • How will my eyebrows look right after the procedure? (do i need to hide for a couple of days?)

    They will look great! They may be a little darker than your desired color for a couple of days, but you should experience no bruising and very minimal swelling. You can go out to dinner the same day, just don't drink alcohol! It makes you sweat, (unlikely) bleed, bruise, and last but definitely not least, it makes you make (questionable) decisions like touching your eyebrows with dirty hands!

  • Does it hurt afterwards?

    The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender for a few days.

  • Can you microblade over an existing tattoo?

    Yes, however, the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Please advise, if you do have an existing tattoo, submit a picture to determine if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

  • I had my brows microbladed somewhere else, can you do my touchup?

    If you have been microbladed elsewhere and need a touch up the full microblading price will be charged.

• How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?

  In the week before your appointment, it's recommended to avoid blood thinners, aspirin or using retinol creams. No alcohol 24 hours before procedure and no caffeine the morning of your appointment. Come with your brows penciled in so we can see how you like your brows to look and how you are used to having them look.

  • 24 hours prior to your appointment, Do Not Drink Alcohol or Caffeine.

  • 72 hours prior to your appointment, Do Not Take Advil or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin or Vitamin E unless medically necessary.

  • Botox should be done 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the procedure.

  • Avoid booking during your menstrual cycle as it can increase your pain.

  • No waxing, tanning or tinting 3 days before.

  • Arrive with no makeup for your appointment (other than penciled in brows).

    A lot of wiping of pigment takes place and makeup can get ruined, so save yourself the hassle!

  • Be prepared for your brows to look a little red and really dark! – don't worry, they will fade in color 30-50%.

• Microblading

  Microblading is not recommended for any clients who are or have any of the following:

  • Pregnant or nursing

  • History of keloids or hypertrophic scarring

  • Epilepsy

  • Chemotherapy (at least a year out and require doctor's clearance)

  • Diabetic (require doctor's clearance)

  • Viral infections or diseases

  • Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Organ transplant

  • Had botox in the last 2 weeks

  • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)

  • Used Accutane in the past year

  • Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, Poor General Health

• Waxing Contraindications

  • First of all, what even is a contraindication?

    Basically, we need to know what products, procedures, and any pre-existing conditions that could make you sensitive to waxing services!

  • The most common contraindications are medications and chemicals that clients are using topically or internally for their skin.

    There are so many things a client could be using or taking that can cause the skin to lift from waxing. Lifting is essentially ripping a very thin layer of skin off when the wax is used which can cause flaking, scabbing and in some severe cases it can leave a scar!

  • Our estheticians are trained to protect the skin from any harm by using products like baby powder,

    Aveda oils, and ointments to create a barrier between the skin and the wax while still removing the hair. After waxing we also use Aveda calming serums and cool compresses to help soothe the skin.

• Other Products

  Below we've listed out common products that are not safe to use while receiving waxing treatments. We will always ask you when first coming in are you using any of these products. We want only the best for our clients and that means we want to give you the knowledge to protect yourself. Our estheticians are trained and will ask you if you have made any changes in your skincare, but if you already know ahead of time please let us know before we start your service. We thank you and so will your skin.

  • Retinol, Retin-A, retinoic acid, Hydroquinone

    You must not have used Retinol, Retin-A, retinoic acid, or Hydroquinone for a week before waxing, and that is regardless of where you put it and where you want to get waxed. It affects your whole body, even if you just put it on your face! A lot of over the counter creams contain a percentage of retinol so double-check all the ingredients before you come in!

  • Accutane, Roaccutane, Isotretinoin

    A YEAR! That's right, you cannot get waxed within an entire year of being on Accutane, Roaccutane, or isotretinoin. It takes one year for this medicine to leave your body and for you to safely be waxed again.

  • Steroids / Antibiotics

    You must be off this medication for 3 months prior to waxing. Certain steroids and antibiotics cause the skin to become hypersensitive and can cause painful reactions to waxing.

  • Chemical peels, Facials, Microdermabrasions

    These services can be hard to gauge how long you should wait before being waxed due to the different types of facial services there are out there. To be on the safe side, we recommend two weeks.

    If your wedding needs include having us on location the day of your wedding our stylists can be booked for a day rate of $650 for our Bridal Team members and $850 for our Master Bridal Team members. This rate is for one team member for 6 hours of time, which includes travel time to and from location. Stylists can also be booked for a half-day at a rate of $450 for our Bridal Team members and $650 for our Master Bridal Team members. This rate is for one team member for 4 hours of time, which includes travel time to and from location. Each additional hour of time is at a rate of $100 for Bridal Team members and $150 for Master Team members. Additional team members can be booked for larger wedding parties.
