All classes at Tranquity Yoga are in the Svaroopa® Yoga style. Following is a description of our various classes:
Beginner/Continuing
These classes are for students who are coming regularly and new students are welcome to attend. You will get a lot of individual attention and learn the basics of Svaroopa® yoga in any of these classes.
Continuing
This is currently our biggest class and is for students who have some Svaroopa® Yoga experience.
Gentle
For those who are not sure they can do the regular poses or who want a little gentler approach. This class is limited in size so as to better accomodate the needs of individual students. We often run this class as a 4 week series.
Yoga for Your Back
For students who have chronic back issues. This class is also somewhat gentler in approach, and geared toward those with back problems. This class is also run as a 4 week series.
Deeper
In these classes we do deeper variations of the standard poses, as well as deeper adjustments. Students in these classes have been practicing Svaroopa® Yoga for a minimum of 6 months, and are comfortable with all of the basic poses. We also recommend that students attend regularly, and have an established home practice.
Beginners Series
We occasionally run a 5 week series for students new to Svaroopa® Yoga. This is an ideal way to become familiar with this Yoga style. By the end of the series, you will be able to join any continuing class and feel comfortable with the basics.

What is Embodyment Yoga Therapy
Embodyment yoga therapy is a hands-on technique that brings a greater sense of awareness and consciousness to your body. As a result of this increased awareness, you will feel more enlivened and areas of your body that were previously tight or “numb” will begin to open up. Some people say they experience a change in their body “equivalent to 3 or 4 Svaroopa yoga classes.”
What happens during an Embodyment session?
This is a one-on-one session in which you rest in Shavasana (Yoga’s relaxation pose) while the practitioner places their hands on specific points in your lower spine. This promotes a release of deep tension in the muscles connected to your spine. The session is very relaxing and requires no effort on your part.
How often should I do it and how much does it cost?
Yoga students often find that Embodyment yoga therapy helps to “fast-forward” the changes that they experience in Yoga classes. Some students enjoy having an Embodyment session once or twice a month. In special cases, such as recovering from injury or physical problems, students may benefit by having more frequent sessions for the first one or two weeks. A one-hour session is $80. A discount is available if you choose to buy a series of sessions.
