    Wedge Holiday Treeskirt-This easy, but complicated looking treeskirt is really fun to make! I used 6 fabrics and a 9 wedge ruler. You will also learn how to layer and quilt your treeskirt using the 505 basting spray. Sewing machine required.   • Knd: Magic Loop Toe-up Socks (2 at a Time)

    Magic Loop Toe-up Socks (2 at a Time)-This class will teach you how to make socks using the magic loop method from the toe up. Both socks are made at the same time. You will learn the Turkish cast-on for a seamless toe, a very simple short-row heel method, and Elizabeth Zimmerman's Sewn bind off.     Tuesday, August 26, 6-8pm; Teacher: Diane Jespersen. In this class, we will learn to knit a beautiful cuff bracelet by Laura Nelkin. This project comes in a kit ready to knit-all you need to add are your knitting needles. We will learn to string beads and work them into your knitting and also how to add beads as you knit. These are the two methods used for knitting with beads and this great project uses both methods! Get the kit and sign up for the class and then you'll be ready for ANY beaded project!     Monday, July 21 & 28, 5:30-7:30pm; Monday, August 11 & 18, 5:30-7:30pm; Teacher: Jean Grapentine. This is a fun, one-skein project that is perfect for gifts. These bed socks are ideal for wearing around the house or with clogs. You will learn two different methods to make these lovely socks, one that involves sewing up two short seams and one that is seamless. You get to choose which method to use.     Monday, Sept. 8, 6-8pm; Teacher: Diane Jespersen. Here's a quick project that you can accomplish in an evening, using bulky yarn. The Bulky Moebius Cowl knits up in a flash and works wonders in the cold winter months! Knit a short cowl to wrap around your neck or double it to wrap around your neck and over your ears.   • Helix Hat

    Wednesday, Sept. 24, 6-8pm; Teacher: Diane Jespersen. Ready to try some easy color work? Here's the perfect way to start. We'll use a color technique called Helix to create a three-color hat. Helix creates a "candy-cane" type striping effect. We'll learn this easy color process in one two-hour class. You can use this technique to create a stocking cap for an adult or a child. It's quick, fun, and can be used to "whip up" some great gifts. Prerequisites: For the advanced beginner who knows how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and work to a consistent gauge.   At Quilter's Cupboard we offer several clubs to excite quilters and stitchers of all kinds. Our clubs meet once a month at the store. Each club member is encouraged to participate in show and tell each month. Some clubs offer time to sit and sew while others meet for show and tell, tips and tricks, and a "What's new at the Cupboard" chat.

    This time around we will feature projects that are fun, easy and make us happy. Cindy will show you new techniques, fabrics, patterns and each month will feature a free project. Club lasts about 1 hour and meets 1st Friday of the month at 10:30am.

  Machine Embroidery Club Next Session Starts 1st Thursday in April!

  • I'm very excited to have found a lady in Canada who has created the Sew Creative Embroidery Club.

    Each Sew Creative Embroidery Club project includes two or more coordinating, beautifully digitized embroidery designs. Projects feature fun and interesting embroidery techniques, creative sewing techniques and a variety of embroidery accessories and notions.

  • Our club will be a lecture/ demo format, since many of you have said hauling your embroidery machines to the store every month was just too hard!

  • Who

    This club is open to everyone who owns an EMBROIDERY MACHINE (Babylock, Husqvarna, Pfaff, Elna, Brother, Janome, Kenmore, Bernina, Singer) or wants to learn more and have fun!

  • Where

    Quilter's Cupboard in Ankeny. Club meets at 10:30am or 6pm the 1st Thursday of the month and lasts about an hour.

  • How Much

    6 month membership is $72 or $15 month. If you've bought your Babylock Embroidery machine from Quilter's Cupboard - 6 month membership is $60 or $12 month. Pre-registration is required. If you'd like to be a member of our club but live too far away, we offer just the designs for a 6 month membership of only.

  • Iris Machine Embroidery Threads

    Hilos Iris has developed a Trilobal Polyester thread which is sold under the brand name of Polyseda Iris. It is mainly used in high speed computerized embroidery machines, having a very uniform and controlled lubrication, which results in the formation of a very even embroidery. Due to its tenacity and low stretching quality, ruptures are notably reduced thus increasing productivity of the embroiderers. Polyseda Iris Thread is resistant to high temperature ironing, caustic detergent, and heavy chlorine wash. It also resists abrasive agents and has excellent resistance when exposed to light and sea water. The high quality of the thread allows it to be used to embroider leather, monograms, high quality decorations and other applications for Sport clothing, shoes, caps and emblems. For Uniforms and any kind of industrial clothing embroidery that require lustrous shine and can support strong detergent and bleach.

Quilt Retreats

• Fall 2014 Quilt Retreats

  We hold 4 weekend retreats, 2 Fall and 2 Winter per year. We provide meals, snacks, soda, and water as well as ironing stations, tables, cutting stations, and chairs. Retreat begins at 4:00 pm Friday night and you can sew until midnight. The room is locked when we leave so you can feel comfortable leaving your materials spread out over night. Saturday the retreat runs from 9am - midnight and Sunday from 9am-3pm. Quilter's Cupboard is always open to retreat goers and we offer a 10% discount to retreaters all weekend long, as well as a special shopping event for retreat guests only on Saturday night.
