Join New York Adventure Club as we visit one of New York City's most interesting and unusual museums known as The Living Torah Museum / Torah Animal World, which features two separate interactive collections based on the premise that touching religious and cultural artifacts is the best way to learn about ancient history. Underground Manhattan, The History of the NYC Subway System

Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the oldest subway stations in New York City with transit expert and guide Gary Dennis. Working our way up from Brooklyn Bridge — City Hall station to Grand Central Terminal, our subterranean experience will include: The history and inside story of the creation of the original 1904 subway line, and how it grew into the most extensive transportation system in the world; A closer look at the art, architecture, and secrets hiding in plain sight of stations including Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall, Astor Place, and Times Square; A glimpse of Old City Hall Station from the 6 train, the crown jewel of the subway system, which closed in 1945. Since our tour starts outside, a MetroCard swipe will be needed to enter the subway system. Please bring water, snacks, and comfortable shoes as we'll be on our feet for most of the tour. This tour does not access the Old City Hall Station platform or any restricted areas. This tour concludes at Grand Central Terminal.

Behind-the-Scenes @ Riverside Church, Tallest Church in U.S.

Step inside a rarely opened synagogue in the Upper West Side to view one of his largest works, with a main sanctuary that is arguably his greatest pièce de résistance in all of New York. Join New York Adventure Club for an exploration of the landmarked Shearith Israel synagogue, commonly known as the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, which is home to North America's first Jewish congregation dating back to 1654. Led by guide and long-time congregant Janet R. While some might look to books, photographs, or movies for the answer, one sanitation worker made it his mission to tell the city's story through what New Yorkers threw in the trash — 50,000 pieces and counting. Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look inside the "Treasures in the Trash" Collection, a curated 50,000 piece collection of New Yorkers' trash dating back to the 1980s — all hidden on the second floor of a New York City Department of Sanitation garage in East Harlem. Join New York Adventure Club for a traditional Japanese tea ceremony demonstration in the style of Urasenke, one of the main schools of Japanese tea ceremony, at the Urasenke Chanoyu Center (UCC). Established in 1967 to promote the rich cultural tea tradition of Urasenke in New York City, the UCC is a private organization that teaches its members how to master this ancient tradition over the course of 10-15 years. Led by a Tea Master of Urasenke, our unique experience at the Urasenke Chanoyu Center will include: A brief overview of the Urasenke Chanoyu Center, from its days as an 1880s carriage house to studio of famed artist Mark Rothko; Access inside the secret Japanese garden and its four traditional tea rooms, all of which were constructed by traditional carpenters from Kyoto, Japan using imported Japanese materials; An authentic Urasenke tea ceremony demonstration to learn about its history and philosophy, etiquette, and traditions; An opportunity to consume the best quality sweets and matcha green tea from Kyoto, Japan, where Urasenke originated. Once you open the door to this unassuming Midtown East storefront, you'll be transported to a universe dedicated to the mesmerizing art of holography, where science fiction meets science fact (especially in the subterranean laser lab). Join New York Adventure Club for a rare trip inside Holographic Studios, the longest operating gallery & laboratory of holography in the world, and only one of its kind in New York City. Led by scientist and holographic technology pioneer Jason Sapan (aka Dr. Laser), our unique experience will include: An overview of the origins of holography and how a hologram is made; A look at different types of hologram technology, including reflection holograms (which are fully three dimensional), multi-channel holograms (that change from one image to another as you walk past), and integral holography (full motion images); A look at the gallery's most notable & unique pieces, from celebrity portraits (Andy Warhol, President Bill Clinton, Billy Idol) to a private commission of a palace in Saudi Arabia; A rare visit to the subterranean laser lab where we'll get a live demonstration showing how holograms are created. Inside the Museum of the American Gangster & 1920s Speakeasy Remnants

Ascend a flight of stairs to a former East Village brothel to learn about the rise (and fall) of the American Gangster, before descending into the basement to see remnants of a 1920s speakeasies that entertained politicians, Police Department leaders, and even Al Capone. Join New York Adventure Club for a late night tour of the Museum of the American Gangster — located in one of NYC's most notorious Prohibition-era speakeasies (known as Scheib's Place), the goal of the museum is to objectively present the role that crime has played in shaping the politics, culture, myth and lore of New York City — and beyond. Our unique experience at the museum and former speakeasy will include: An exploration of the history of Jewish and Italian gangsters, and their involvement in the city's prohibition movement; Encounters with prohibition-era objects such a Tommy gun and the death masks of John Dillinger; A trip through the hidden and preserved spaces of the old speakeasy, including the former dance floor, bar, and basement where the owner once stashed millions in illegal cash. Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the NYPD 26th Precinct, located in the Manhattan neighborhood of Manhattanville. Our special experience with the 26th Precinct, which is in charge of the areas between 110th & 141st Sts to Riverside & St. Nicholas Parks, will include: An overview of policing by the Community Outreach Officer, from general terminology to effective strategies for keeping communities safe; A discussion around civilian programs within the NYPD, including the Auxiliary Police Program and Citizens Police Academy Program; A peek inside a temporary holding cell; A discussion with a detective from the Precinct's Detective Unit about their daily roles and responsibilities. Underground Manhattan, The History of the NYC Subway System

Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the oldest subway stations in New York City with transit expert and guide Gary Dennis. Working our way up from Brooklyn Bridge — City Hall station to Grand Central Terminal, our subterranean experience will include: The history and inside story of the creation of the original 1904 subway line, and how it grew into the most extensive transportation system in the world; A closer look at the art, architecture, and secrets hiding in plain sight of stations including Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall, Astor Place, and Times Square; A glimpse of Old City Hall Station from the 6 train, the crown jewel of the subway system, which closed in 1945. When: Saturday, Feb 23; 1 PM - 2:30 PM. Can you spot the skyscraper climber on a Singapore high rise? Or what about zombies chasing tourists near the pyramids in Giza? Join New York Adventure Club for an exclusive, competitive scavenger hunt at Gulliver's Gate, a 50,000 square foot wonderland featuring 1:87 scale models of major cities and unique locations throughout the world. Once teams have been formed and the starting pistol goes off, your group will have a limited amount of time to navigate the massive complex of miniature worlds and spot as many pieces as possible! The members of the winning team will face off against each other and compete for the ultimate prize of a 3D-printed mini model of themselves, which will be placed in a Gulliver's Gate world for eternity! Comfortable shoes are recommended as we'll be on our feet for the duration of the event — a water bottle is also encouraged! Pieces may be difficult to spot without proper eyewear.
