Jamie Willard has been performing for more than thirty years and his music has in that time evolved into a rendition of beauty and a distillation of grace. His compositions are variously described as "[i]ntricately detailed, a pleasure not only to listen to but to see". At a recent workshop, Jamie had an opportunity to play for and with finger-style guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel, upon hearing Jamie play he said, "That's brilliant," and praised Jamie as a gifted guitarist with a wonderful sense of melody. Jamie's artistry ranges from Classical to Jazz to Country and Rock; each with its own passion and raw sophistication along with Jamie's own style and wit. Jamie had the good fortune of tremendous teachers throughout his career. A graduate of the Flip Hayes School of Guitar, Jamie also was fortunate enough to study with classical master Paul Sweeny. The Bombadils are a four piece folk ensemble that unite an eclectic variety of influences to present a unique interpretation of traditional music. Though the group first connected in Montreal, QC, at McGill University over a shared curiosity surrounding the Celtic and bluegrass traditions, fiddler Sarah Frank, guitarist Luke Fraser, bassist Alan Mackie, and flautist Anh Phung were raised Canada-wide and trained in classical performance and modern improvisation. Endearingly described by those closest to them as "cinematic folk", The Bombadils have been bringing music and high spirits to the concert halls and Irish pubs of the world since 2009, allowing diverse influences to flow naturally through their compositions, arrangements, and improvisations, all the while bridging cultural and linguistic forms.
Sep 13, Saturday - Black Mountain Symphony
A Guide to Black Mountain Symphony... "I'll have you know it feels so good!" Official Bio: Black Mountain Symphony showcases an eclectic range of influences, blended together to create their own special sound. From baroque classical violin and haunting folk-tinged ballads to punk-rock drums and hard-hitting dance numbers, the five-piece band sprinkles their live sets with hints of everything from classical music to bits of Motown, blues and jazz. Whether touring nationally or performing at their favorite local digs, this up-and-coming group of young musicians features a roundtable of powerful lead vocals and harmonies that dance with captivating violin lines and soar over stunning soundscapes, shaped by years of classical training infused with an irresistible love for musical roots and a fresh, ultramodern mentality. Evocative of such artists as Fleetwood Mac, The Corrs, Yes, Belle & Sebastian, Damien Rice, Guster and The Dave Matthews Band, the group implements the same skill and vision on cover tunes as they do in their own carefully crafted compositions, and in the process manage to capture something unique and refreshing... This is Black Mountain Symphony.

In January 2012, Andrew Morris (Guitar) and Russell Gottlieb (Banjo) joined brothers Dave (Standup bass) and Eric Brumberg (Mandolin) to form The Brummy Brothers. Sep 20, Saturday - Taina Asili y la Banda Rebeld
Puerto Rican vocalist Taína Asili carries on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Her newest artistic work is with la Banda Rebelde (the Rebel Band), a six piece international ensemble based in Albany, NY. This dynamic force brings love, resistance, and ancestral remembrance to venues, festivals, conferences and political events across the globe. Powerful vocals laid over an energetic fusion of Afro-Caribbean, reggae, rock, and hip hop sounds, the band's eclectic style represents the diversity of its members, who have origins in Puerto Rico, Sicily, Greece, Spain, Brazil and Ghana. Taína Asili's voice exudes strength of Spirit, filling its listeners with the fervor of freedom and inspiring audiences to dance to the movement of rebellion. Taína Asili y la Banda Rebelde released their debut album War Cry in 2010, which has already begun to gain international attention. With an uncompromising lyrical integrity and sound that spans continents, the multilingual album War Cry interblends the energy of Ojos de Brujo, the soul of Lila Downs and the defiance of Rage Against the Machine. Journalist Josh Potter of The Metroland, Albany, NY's alternative newsweekly, describes War Cry as "a pan-global roots-musical mélange that appeals to the struggle of tradition to envision a world of social justice." Taína Asili [tahy-ee-nah ah-see-lee] hails from Philadelphia, PA and Albany, NY where she has worked as a musician, poet, educator and community organizer for over 10 years. She has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Ursula Rucker, Sonia Sanchez, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Immortal Technique, Pamela Means, Paula Cole, and Tyrone Hill of The Sun Ra Arkestra. Taína was a winner of the 2005 Transformation Award given by the Leeway Foundation each year to a select few of women artists who profoundly use their work towards social change. She was voted "Best Poet" in 2006 and "Best World Music" in 2010 by The Metroland. She has performed from Montreal to San Francisco and from Mexico to Spain capturing the hearts of her listeners. "If you look at our history," she says, "you see over and over that music has played a central role in changing how people think, for the good and bad. How we make change in the larger political landscape starts with how we affect one another individually, and music brings message in a way that opens people-their heart, mind, spirit."

Kim Monroe set's herself apart from other singer songwriters by delivering conviction and soul in every verse. With an EP and two full length disks each garnering critical acclaim, and two SAMMY awards under her belt she has consistently impressed audiences with her unique songwriting and powerful vocals. With another record in the works, Monroe attributes the leap she has made as a vocalist and songwriter to greater confidence in herself and a clearer vision of her musical direction. Helping to define and craft this new direction is guitarist Chris Eves who will be joining Monroe in the studio and on the road. "Chris has helped me believe in myself as a musician and the new tunes we are working on have really lit a fire in me to perform live," says Monroe when asked about the budding collaboration, "I'm really excited by the new sounds we are coming up with and cannot wait to get into the studio." Monroe has enjoyed collaborating with artists in the past, such as Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac and Blues Traveler's harmonica virtuoso John Popper. "I've been lucky to get the opportunity to work with some really wonderful, creative people in the industry and hope to continue to collaborate and play with such great musicians." With a tour calendar steadily filling and a new record in the works Monroe is excited for the future. "This next year will be a lot of work but I feel like there will be a lot of growth and opportunities that come with the new album. I am really looking forward to taking my next step musically and enjoying all that comes with it."

Friday, 30 Jan - Roosevelt Dime
"The perfect mix of talent and showmanship to make the audience feel they're witnessing something special,...one of those gems that sound better even live than they do on record. " Poppy Galloway - Feast of Music (July 2014). "Sizzling... Their live shows are kinetic and energetic. " Michael Witthaus - Hippo Press (Apr 10, 2014). "Bucket loads of spirit, musicianship and fun." Strictly Roots Top 5 At 5 (Mar 10, 2014). We all carry the Roosevelt Dime. It's not a relic of the past, it's the silver in your pocket. There was a time when Appalachian strings made romance with New Orleans rhythms, a love affair that yielded one of the most infectious beats the world had ever heard. For Roosevelt Dime that time is now. Some would call it Rock & Roll, others Americana, but "Mardi-Grass" is more like it-a bedrock of New Orleans rhythms that brings driving, melodic banjo, fat-back blues guitar, pure honky-tonk harmonies, and deliciously dirty R&B vocals along for the ride-it makes for a groove so inspired the New York Times has called Roosevelt Dime "a perpetual crowd pleaser." With a whisper or a cry, a long, cool wail or a hot-and-heavy three part harmony, Roosevelt Dime speaks the language of the Blues. Andrew Green's banjo is soulful and rhythmic, less claw-hammer and more crawfish boil, dixieland by way of the BQE, and he sings with a New York drawl softened by the rolling hills of Appalachia. Eben Pariser is the gunslinger, with guitar sensibility straight out of Abilene and a voice like a velvet tent revival, perfect for the church of the unrepentant. Underpinning the groove is Tony Montalbano's laid-back Pacific-meets-Delta percussion, and Craig Akin's bass, as sweet and complex as Kansas City barbecue. This musical alchemy is purely American, transforming struggle into celebration, pain into perseverance, and taking the joyous beat from sidewalks and streetcars to backrooms and barrooms, from the ample hills of Brooklyn to the amber waves of grain. The formula is no accident. From their early days performing on the streets of New York City Roosevelt Dime learned what it takes to stop a stranger in their tracks, turn that stranger from a commuter into a listener, and from a listener into an unstoppable sidewalk strutter. Their high energy live shows have thrilled audiences at premier festivals across the country, and countless more have been captivated by the exceptional songwriting on their latest release "Full Head of Steam (2014)," which climbed to #6 on the Folk Charts in New York and #8 nationally. Roosevelt Dime has recently been featured in Relix Magazine, CMT Edge, Performer Magazine, The Bluegrass Situation, and the Alternate Root Magazine

Something deep happens when dedication to social change meets the burning desire to make amazing music. We give thanks for being alive! We give thanks that we can travel this beautiful road! We give thanks for a million things, and do our human best to put it into music. This is the essence of Thousands of One - to build connections between people and live inspired lives, striving to bring that inspiration into the world around us. Gaining notoriety for their spirited live shows throughout the nation, Thousands of One jumps from activist/retro soul - think Olu Dara or Marvin Gaye - to cross Atlantic afrobeat/funk jams as in Fela Kuti meets James Brown- to underground Hiphop a la The Roots or Talib Kweli with a funk rock edge.
