Seating: reserved covered or general admission lawn Free admission for children under 12 Bring your own food and drink, or purchase on site Parking is free Click to view the seating chart Click to view the schedule and artist lineup Georgia Blues and Roots Festival The Event What it is: a one-day festival steeped in the rich history of the Blues featuring performances by legendary artists, music and dance lessons for the whole family, and food and merchandise vendors The activities: Festival-goers can attend demonstrations and lessons in Blues dancing, learn the French Creole art of Zydeco dancing, and blow out some notes on the harmonica with teacher Carlos “Breeze” Capote. The organization: Atlanta Blues Society, an all-volunteer member organization promoting the education and preservation of the Blues while holding charitable events in the community such as the annual “Feed the Hungry” food-bank drive and “Toys for Tots” drive. The Lineup Carl Weathersby: This soul-blues vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter got his big break working as a rhythm guitarist for Albert King and spent 14 years as a harmonica player for Billy Branch in Branch’s Sons of the Blues. As a solo artist, he exemplified classic Chicago blues with the release of his 1996 debut album, Don’t Lay Your Blues On Me. Albert Castiglia: Florida-based guitarist continues electrifying the blues with his handy work on his latest, Up All Night, while blending soul, rock, and country with a vocal style reminiscent of Van Morrison. The Stone Foxes: Blues-rock band based out of San Francisco fills sets with energetic sing-along moments that have been heard on commercials for Jack Daniels and BMW and on TV shows such as Shameless and Sons of Anarchy.
