Driver killed in multiple-vehicle crash in Muskegon County
The Muskegon County Sheriff's Office said a driver was killed after hitting the back of a truck that was stopped at a traffic signal. It happened at the intersection of E. Apple Avenue and S. Maple Island Road in Egelston Township just before 6:00 p. m. Friday. Deputies said the driver of a work van was heading westbound on E. Apple Avenue and didn't stop at the red traffic signal, rear-ending a pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection.

By CRISTINA JANNEY Hays Post Derek Stockman’s farming and ranching operation has been brought to a standstill. He sold 41 heifers at the Plainville Livestock Commission on Feb. 5, but his check for almost $37,000 bounced Stockman of Kirwin only recently expanded his farming operation into cattle. He is now unable to make his FSA loan payments, nor is he able to get his operating loan for the coming year guaranteed. “The bills don’t stop coming in,” Stockman said. Stockman is one of more than 40 livestock producers in the area that have been caught up in legal action and bankruptcy of Plainville Livestock Commission, operated by Tyler Gillum. Grand Rapids Police have positively identified the remains found in a basement as the missing Kalamazoo woman. Ashley Young, 31, was reported missing after a visit to Grand Rapids on Nov. 30. Young’s family said she was last seen alive at a Grand Rapids bar with Jared Chance the night of Nov. 29. After not hearing from her, Young’s family said they drove to Chance’s home looking for her Friday before reporting her missing.
