Brands such as ZipRecruiter, MasterCard, GE and Microsoft are creating sponsored podcasts with content that relates authentically to their brands, tapping into a highly engaged audience that's more open to advertising than those on other channels, writes Melissa Locker. "Brands know that [branded podcasts] are an effective way to reach an audience that otherwise is hard to reach in an engaging way with a longer story that can only unfold over time," says Gimlet Media's Matt Lieber.
