Iowa's first case of West Nile Virus in 2019 has now been reported. The Iowa Department of Public Health made the announcement Friday, saying the patient is an older male, aged from 61 to 80 years old in Audubon County. The man has since recovered. State health officials say Iowans should take precautions so they are not infected. “Humans get infected with West Nile virus through a mosquito bite,” said IDPH Medical Director, Dr. Caitlin Pedati.
